Compassionate, community-centered feeding support
Modern Momma Lactation Pricing Philosophy
At Modern Momma Lactation, one of our core values is making high-quality lactation care more accessible to families.
Feeding support can be essential healthcare for both parent and baby. Financial barriers should not prevent families from receiving guidance, education, and clinical care during such an important time.
Because every family’s financial situation looks different—especially after welcoming a new baby—I offer several options designed to help families receive the support they need.
If you’re simply looking for the quickest way to request reduced pricing, you can scroll to the section titled “What Does This Mean for Me?”
While many insurance plans are required to cover lactation services under the Affordable Care Act, access in practice is often far more complicated.
Some families discover that:
Their insurance plan does not include nearby in-network lactation providers
Lactation providers cannot bill their specific insurance plan
Coverage only applies to certain types of visits
Out-of-pocket payment is required before reimbursement
Additionally, not all families have commercial insurance, and Medicaid coverage for private lactation services can vary significantly.
Because of these challenges, many lactation providers in our area do not accept insurance requiring some families may still need to pay privately for lactation care.
The pricing listed on the Services page reflects the standard rate.
If you are currently able to meet your basic financial needs comfortably, the standard pricing will apply.
However, you may want to request sliding-scale consideration if you are experiencing financial strain such as:
Limited income
Lack of paid parental leave
Needing to prioritize essential expenses for your baby
Difficulty covering healthcare costs
Families can request consideration for reduced pricing, depending on availability and circumstances.
Sliding-scale appointments are limited each month to ensure the sustainability of this small practice.
Standard pricing listed on the Services page reflects the full rate for appointments.
If you believe a sliding-scale rate may better fit your current circumstances, you are encouraged to complete the short request form below.
Families are welcome to apply even if they are unsure whether they qualify.
If approved, the adjusted rate will apply to follow-up visits within a two-month period.
If sliding-scale spots are currently full, or if a reduced rate still does not meet your budget, additional options may include:
Community lactation support groups
Low-cost or free clinic community resources
Accessible care is important to Modern Momma Lactation, and every effort will be made to connect you with support—even if it cannot be provided directly through this practice.
Do I need to provide financial documents?
No. The request form is based on trust and self-assessment. Families are asked to share a brief overview of their circumstances so an appropriate rate can be determined.
How much of a discount is available?
Sliding-scale adjustments will vary on a case-by-case basis
How long does the adjusted rate last?
Once approved, the sliding-scale rate will apply to follow-up appointments within a two-month period.
What if sliding-scale appointments are full?
If capacity has been reached, I can help connect you with community resources and lactation focused support groups.
Can I still apply if I’m unsure whether I qualify?
Absolutely. If you feel your financial circumstances make lactation support difficult to afford, you are encouraged to apply.
